So it's been a helluva week for me. Last Wednesday, after realizing I was 9 days late for my period, I went out and purchased two home pregnancy tests. Both came up positive.

I went to the doctor on Friday and he confirmed that I was, indeed, pregnant. 6 weeks and 2 days to be exact.

On Monday, I noticed some bleeding and called my doctor, who told me to go to the ER. I spent NINE hours in the ER of a hospital that took so long because they don't do maternity and are not equipped to deal with it. They did regular ultrasounds plus a transvaginal ultrasound which showed that my baby was alive with a beating heart, plus blood tests and a rather painful pelvic exam. In the end, they found out that I had had a Subchorionic Hemorrhage, which was a hemorrhage around the sac of the baby and discharged me with the diagnosis of a 'threatened miscarriage' and a reassurement that I would probably be alright and that my chance of miscarriage was 40 perfect. I was also ordered to be on bedrest for 48 hours.

I woke up at about 1am on Wednesday morning to a feeling of a lot of blood between my legs. I went to the bathroom and felt something leaving my body and a resounding PLOP in the toilet. Looking, I saw a lot of blood and tissue in the bowl and panicked. After wiping, I saw some clear, whitish tissue in the toilet paper and, despite my anxiety, managed to collect it into a container, with blood running down my legs, and then woke up my boyfriend and called my mother. She came over my house and called an ambulance for me, which took me to a maternity hospital. After doing all the same tests that the hospital from Monday did (ultrasounds including the transvaginal one, blood tests, and pelvic exam), they discovered that I had, indeed, miscarried.

So yes, it's been a week from hell and I'm still bleeding, cramping, in a lot of pain, and am extremely fatigued, and perhaps just a bit depressed.

Damn.
